Baptist Theology North
Mystery & Mission
9 June 2023

Can Christians Believe in Space?
Heaven and space are different, but tales of the two have long been linked. Come and join us for a discussion of mystery and mission above the clouds, the history of ascent stories, and how they inform current debates about faith and space travel.

The Revd Dr Lucas Mix serves as project coordinator for “Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science.” He holds a PhD in biology from Harvard University and works with NASA on the search for life beyond Earth. His books include Life in Space: Astrobiology for Everyone and Thinking Fair: Rules for Reason in Science and Religion. A priest in the Episcopal Church (USA) he has served as an inner-city pastor and a college chaplain. He cares deeply about spreading the good news in a world where science is part of the vernacular.

Baptist Theology North is a conversational event at which Baptists working in the north of England can share their ideas and engage in a theological discussion of papers, with a nice lunch.

Short papers and general bookings are now invited (20 minutes presentation plus 20 minutes conversation). Please send a short title and a sentence abstract if you’d like to offer something.

Contact Sally Nelson at sally.nelson@sthild.org.
